It is important that we follow a procedure which upholds the integrity of the school when releasing official school documents.
Students often ask teachers, counselors and administrators to write personal reference letters for them. These requests should be reports to your division’s principal. Faculty members are not required to write a reference for a student if they do not feel comfortable doing so and should be honest in their responses while keeping in mind that our students are still young and a negative reference can be devastating for them.
In general, it is not our practice to release official school transcripts to students or parents unless they are marked as “released to student” and rendered unofficial. Official transcripts and references should ordinarily be sent directly to the institution which is requesting the document.
